Exploring Castilla La Mancha Spain


Located in the middle of Iberian Peninsula, Castilla La Mancha region in Spain is quite an attraction for many. A tableland which is quite intense dominates this region and the mountainous landscapes add to the interest of the area. The region is home to towns and cities which have amazing and important historical monuments. It is also a land of great traditions making it most ideal for a quiet kind of holiday.

Castill La Mancha's gastronomy is still very traditional and consists of tasteful simple meals such as sausages, stews, game and cheese especially the famed Manchego cheese. You will also find the region's wines excellent to go with the wonderful meals. Toledo famous swords, Albacete knives, embroideries and ceramics are found here as well making the art quite varying and interesting.

Castilla La Mancha has several cities which are worth visiting while here and enjoying the various things that they have to offer. Listed below are some of the cities that are worth visiting:

Toledo: it used to be the Spanish capital and has architectural treasures of the country. Mudejar, a magnificent Moorish monument is perhaps the most outstanding feature in the city. It also has Renaissance and Gothic elements making it the more beautiful and valuable to the region.

Cuenca: it is a medieval city which is quite enchanting and has already become a humanity patrimony under UNESCO. The landscapes surrounding the city are incredibly beautiful and among the features that you cannot miss in the city include abstract art museum, gothic cathedral and the hanging houses by the river. There are also several natural preserves which are very interesting.

Guadalajara: Santa Maria Church is a major attraction as well as the Moorish walls. There is also an interesting bridge over the Rover Henares dating back to the 10th century. Within the city you will find Siguenza town which is home to a great cathedral and fortress worth checking out.

Ciudad Real: you can enjoy the amazing landscapes by the huge lagoon found here. The lagoon is composed of 17 smaller lagoons and is a major attraction here.

Albacete: it is more modern city with all facilities needed in making a stay in the region most enjoyable and fun. It is located on La Mancha plains and is most popular because of the knife making industry which still exists today, lloret de mar. It is an ideal place to stay for those looking for a more luxurious holiday in this region.
