Flow of Blessings in Galicia

Spain is an exciting country that is full of discoveries; one of them is Galicia which is known as “the land with 1000 rivers”. Its capital is Santiago de Compostela in the province of A Coruña. Galicia is a large community comprising several provinces such as A Coruña, Ourense, Lugo and Pontevedra.

There are hundreds of rivers flowing across Galicia from the mountains to the coast. They form the “Rias” which characterize the region. The coast offers diverse contrasts with smooth beaches to imposing cliffs.

Galicia enjoys a varied range of climate with 5 degrees Celsius in the winter to 20 degrees Celsius in the summer.

Natural blessings

Galicia is rich in its natural irrigation which brings on magnificent beaches and quaint fishing villages with its characteristic Rias.

Rias Altas is where one would enjoy beautiful beaches and quaint towns that include fishing villages which is the main livelihood of its inhabitants. This pilgrimage is the world renowned Way of Santiago journey which is also called the Way of Saint James. Hence, numerous churches, chapels and monasteries of high historical importance were built with high artistic values.

The folklore of Galicia shows obvious Celtic and Gaelic origins with the use of the Gaita or bagpipe. The regional gastronomy gains a high reputation for its wide variety of tantalizing local cuisine such as the Empanada Gallega which is a typical fish or meat pie served in Galicia, traditional sweets served in certain monasteries using secret recipes and the locally produced Ribeiro wine.
